First mention Ch3791

A class of laws in which a wizard sets a thing and its operating rules, then studies them as a real law; the Imaginary Element is what such a law produces.1 Its source is the [Fictional] Law, a degraded imitation of how ninth-level existences distort laws, wielded by Illusion of the Tower of Annihilation.4514 Jie Ming uses it as the public cover for his Spiritual Qi Law.1

What is known

  • Method: Requires absorbing plane origins from many fields and rigorous self-consistent settings; too-perfect settings usually turn out to be undiscovered real laws.1
  • History: The Imaginary Element craze was an era of rapid law discovery, peaked under Wizard Noren's mentor and was nearly weeded out by Noren's generation; few now research it seriously.1222 Its appearance made the four major artificial intelligences leap in strength.24
  • Value: Wielders fight only at the average line; its merit is Imaginary Element as a rare material; no wizard has reached the ninth level purely on it, though useful fabrications such as fate spread.12
  • The [Fictional] Law: defense that presets "the attack will be intercepted," erasure of an attack's existence, attacks that define "the defense will be pierced"; movement erases the process between far and near; contact dissipates part of a target.4
  • Omission allowance: Skips only what the user could in theory accomplish alone; limited by mastery; each skip needs calculation and a cooldown; products exist only while mentally connected to the creator, so research yields results without knowledge.5
  • Ceiling: Outrageous at the sixth and seventh levels, cuts weaker fifth-levels down instantly, but counts for little after eighth-level law solidification.514
  • Tactics: Familiarity cheapens breaking a defense; unfamiliar energy drains allowance; allowance can tilt into defense; best at wide-area result definition and close-quarters kills; dislikes matter-manipulation foes; a continuous-process attack wears through its barrier; a master can skip the process of fleeing.789101113
  • Applications: Information probing; seizing a plane origin without a conquest; defining mining done, supplies delivered or a body healthy at enormous cost.101516
  • Theory: Its research revealed part of the seventh-to-eighth path and the knowledge for breaking the theory-reality boundary, the foundation of every true Fictional Law; the standardized result on "thought becomes reality".519
  • Growth: Rises with the native laws, since what is fabricated rests on an understanding of the world;21 conventional study advances Fictional Laws very slowly.23

Wielders

Wielder Since Expression
Jie Ming Ch3791 Public cover; claims his materials are Imaginary Element condensates of his own Fictional Law; later calls the Spiritual Qi Law its extension.172122
Illusion Ch5154 The [Fictional] Law; black-robed Tower of Annihilation wizard.41419
Parallel wizard civilization Ch60018 Obtained while studying ninth-level creatures; developed fate-discipline laws purely for combat.18
Suoyuan Ch72319 Self-developed version sharing the core mechanism.19

Interactions

  • Spiritual Qi Law: Jie Ming's framework uses one or two Imaginary Element variants to cover all four fundamental elements, built on the Grand Unified Theory.3 Itself counted a Fictional Law, as slow to advance by conventional study as the Fate Law.23
  • Fate Law: One of the Fictional Laws; the parallel world's causality-based guaranteed hit comes through it.1822
  • Jie Ming's body: The Return to Ruins Armor cancels one "broken" definition by shattering; his Body Forging Method evolves resistance that Light God Transformation inherits and that cancels most of Suoyuan's version.56121920

Open questions

  • Whether Jie Ming truly chose it: He tells Illusion he researches it, then privately denies it, while Illusion infers he did.8
